🎓 NWAHJA Education Scholarship

The NWAHJA Education Scholarship supports riders pursuing continuing education at any accredited college or university. Beginning this year, the scholarship is a set $1,500 award offered annually — making it a guaranteed and consistent opportunity for our riders.

We've also expanded eligibility for the scholarship. Applicants are no longer limited to riding in the Equitation class only — riders who have competed in any Hunter, Jumper, or Equitation division at least three times during the show year are now eligible to apply.

2025 Application Requirements

Please note changes: Requirements reduced to three shows (previously four). Now open to riders enrolled in any accredited college or university, and open to riders in any division.

Eligibility

  • Must be an NWAHJA member in good standing
  • Must be in grades 9–12 or currently enrolled in an accredited college or university at the time of the 2025 Awards Banquet
  • Must compete in at least three shows during the current year in Hunter, Equitation, or Jumper division
  • Must hold a GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Must complete a minimum of 20 NWAHJA volunteer hours and 10 additional community volunteer hours

Submission Requirements (due December 15, 2025)

  • Completed scholarship application
  • Essay (minimum two pages, single-spaced) describing horse-related experiences, educational goals, and intended use of funds
